Abstract
976,900. Transformers. LICENTIA-PATENTVERWALTUNGS-G.m.b.H. July 25, 1961 [July 25, 1960], No. 26912/61. Heading H1T. A tank or conservator for an oil-immersed transformer has at least two non-permeable membranes 5, 6, 7, 8 (Fig. 1) spaced apart therein to form three or more separate chambers, one chamber 4, containing oil with a cushion of inert gas, being separated from a vented chamber 2 by at least one other chamber 3, which may be filled with nitrogen, means 16 (which may be silica gel or fused calcium chloride) being provided to keep the gas cushion dry. Moisture liberated from the transformer finds its way into the gas, which may be nitrogen, and its presence may be determined by a hygrometer 17. The gas cushion may be in a separate chamber connected to the oil chamber by a pipe (Fig. 2, not shown). In another modification (Fig. 3, not shown), the membranes are in the form of envelopes enclosed one within another.
