Abstract

975,087. Shovelling machines. CATERPILLAR TRACTOR CO. Aug. 8, 1962 [Aug. 10, 1961], No. 30321/62. Heading E1F. An ejector plate 26 is automatically caused to sweep through a scoop 11 to eject the contents thereof as the scoop is tilted by transversely spaced, jack actuated linkages 18, 20 from a carrying position to a discharge position, as shown, in which the contents of the scoop would not fall by gravity out of the scoop. The movement of the ejector plate is caused by transversely spaced pivoted linkages 34, 40 pivoted at 18, 38 to the scoop-swinging linkage 18, 20 each linkage 34, 40 carrying a cam roller 35 that co-operates with the cam surface 36 of a cam structure 30 secured to the ejector plate 26. In a second embodiment to that shown torsion means are associated with the ejector plate to ensure of a positive return of the plate through the scoop when the scoop is re-orientated from a discharge to a load position.
