967, 366. Draw frames; roller driving arrangements; coilers. DEUTSCHER SPINNEREIMASCHINENBAU INGOLSTADT, NIEDERLASSUNG DER SCHUBER & SALZER MASCHINENFABRIK A. G. March 30, 1961 [May 6, 1960], No. 11661/61. Headings D1D, D1F and D1N. Slivers fed from a drawing frame, carding engine or the like into a can are severed by producing a speed difference between delivery and feed rollers. In one arrangement, a clutch is provided whereby feed rollers 1, Fig. 5, and preceding mechanisms are stopped whilst delivery rollers 2 and the coiler mechanism continue to operate. A sliver guide plate 81 guides the severed end of sliver protruding from the rollers 1 to the rollers 2 when the machine is again rendered fully operative. Another arrangement, Fig. 6, has a supplementary driving mechanism 9 that may rotate an arm 78 carrying a gear 75 which, when it rolls over a gear 74, transmits motion to shaft 6 and rollers 2 through gears 76, 77 even though rollers 1 and shaft 7 be stopped. The supplementary driving mechanism may also be switched on during operation of the machine. An alternative form of this arrangement has the arm 78 partially rotated by a magnet or a piston.
