Abstract

967,322. Parking posts. HARLOW DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION, and LE BAS TUBE CO. Ltd. March 28, 1961 [April 14, 1960], No. 13505/60. Heading E1B. A parking post, movable from a vertical position to a horizontal position, thereby providing access to a parking bay, comprises a tubular post 23 having vertically extending slots 16 at its lower end; a rod 15 journalled in lugs 12 of a base plate 10 and passing through the slots 16; and a locking bar 27, pivotally mounted on the rod 15, and having a slot 29 at its upper end engageable by a detent 35 controlled by a cylinder lock 32. The post is moved from the vertical to the horizontal position by actuating the lock 32 to withdraw the detent from the slot 29; the post is then moved upwardly, the rod 15 sliding in slots 16, so that the end of the post is clear of aperture 14 in base-plate 10, the post may then be pivoted about rod 15 to the horizontal position. In another embodiment, Figs. 1 and 2 (not shown), the top end of the locking bar passes through a slot in the top of the post, and is engaged by a padlock.
