Abstract

959,645. Centrifugal separators. MEDITERRANEA S.p.A. Jan. 24, 1963, No. 2993/63. Heading B2P. A centrifugal separator for removing dust from smoke comprises a casing 1 having a frusto-conical portion with a downwardly directed apex, a substantially L-shaped inlet duct 2 for connection to a smoke flue, a centrifugal fan 7 located inside the casing at the top of the duct 2, a collecting chamber 10 for the dedusted smoke located below the fan and coaxial with the casing, and an outlet duct 13 connected to the chamber 10 for conveying away the dedusted smoke. The wall 11 of the chamber 10 is sealed around the duct 2 and the chamber is closed at its bottom 12. The draught in the duct is adjusted by an aperture 5 covered by a collar 4. Dust particles separated by the centrifugal effect caused by the fan are thrown against the inclined wall 15 of the casing and slide down to be collected into a container 18 detachable from the casing by a handwheel 19.
