Abstract

957,400. Joint-making packing. UNION CARBIDE CORPORATION. Feb. 21, 1963 [Feb. 27, 1962], No. 6966/63. Heading F2B. An annular hollow metallic sealing ring 11 is of substantially rectangular cross-section and has port holes 31 therein to admit the pressure fluid being sealed to the interior 29 of the ring. The external faces 13, 15, 17 and 19 and bevelled edges 21, 23, 25 and 27 of the ring are preferably slightly convex and additional port holes 33 may be provided in the edge 27. As shown in Fig. 2, the ring is disposed in a recess 35 at the joint between two components 43 and 45 to be sealed.
