Abstract

954,249. Rollerway conveyers on vehicles. DURAMIN ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. Aug. 29, 1962 [Sept. 4, 1961], No. 31664/61. Headings B8A and B8E. A conveyer particularly for loading containers on to a vehicle comprises rotatable means such as rollers 17 movable by fluid pressure means from an inoperative position below the vehicle floor or other surface and a raised operative position wherein the rollers form conveyer means. Transversely spaced longitudinally extending channel-shaped members 10 have inwardly directed flanges 12 flush with the floor and contain frame members 13 mounting rollers 17 and having outwardly extending flanges 16. A hose 21 is placed below the frame 13 and in a collapsed state the rollers 17 are below the flanges 12 so that containers can rest on the floor. If the tubes are inflated the frame 13 rises until the flanges 12, 16 engage and the rollers 17 are above the floor forming a conveyer means. In an alternative construction the channel members 10 have outwardly directed flanges connected by bridging pieces which contact the frames 13.
