Abstract
946,812. Disinfecting-apparatus for waterwaste preventers. THORNTON & ROSS Ltd. Nov. 9, 1962 [Aug. 6, 1961], No. 28718/61. Heading E1C. A disinfecting device for use in a flushing cistern 1 has a discharging member 4 which is buoyant in water, adapted to receive a charge of liquid disinfectant from a reservoir 3, and tilts to a position where the said charge will flow out of it, when the water level in the cistern 1 falls below the minimum level required to support the member 4, because a cord 15 is of such a length that it is then pulled tight. The reservoir 3 is flexible, has an outlet into the member 4 and weighting means 6 to hold itself below water level, so that a disinfectant of lower specific gravity than water will tend to flow upward out of it when in its working position to partly fill the discharging member 4, formed of a cup 8 with a feed tube 10 and having a float 13. To the lower end of tube 10 is attached the reservoir 3, e.g. of synthetic plastics sheet. A cord 15 connects the member 4 to the cistern wall.
