Abstract

933,074. Vapour burners. A. PALKO. Aug. 8, 1960 [Sept. 14. 1959], No. 27360/60. Class 75 (1). A vapour burner comprises an air tube 30 discharging into a distribution chamber 26 and a ring of peripheral holes 32 in the air tube through which vapour is sucked from an annular vaporizing chamber 252 into the air tube. Inner projections 32a are formed around the holes 32. The annular vaporizing chamber 252 surrounds the distribution chamber 26 and is divided into two chambers by partitions 27, 28 having apertures 27a, 28a for the passage of vapour. Fuel is supplied by a pipe 10. Vapour is also conveyed to the air tube 30 by a pipe 80 extending from the annular vaporizing chamber near the fuel pipe 10 across the bottom of the distribution chamber and terminating in an open end disposed in the air pipe 30. The distribution chamber contains a fixed spiral baffle 60 and a rotatable spiral baffle 70. The fixed end 61 of the fixed baffle 60 has apertures 63 through which vapour/air mixture is sucked by the action of a small baffle 64 at the end of the air tube 30. The rotatable baffle 70 is of gradually decreasing axial length and is positioned to give a blue flame all around the burner head. The latter comprises a plurality of superposed circular discs 51 of decreasing diameter spaced apart by radial wires 53. The tapering central passage 55 is mounted above a central opening in the top wall of the distribution chamber and its top end is closed by a washer 41 on a bolt 40 securing the burner head to the distribution chamber. The upper portion 221 of the outer wall 22 of the vaporizing chamber has holes 222 and is heated by the burner flame, such heat being conducted to the fuel to cause vaporization thereof.
