Abstract

937,906. Hay-tedders. BLACKSTONE & CO. Ltd. Feb. 8, 1962 [Nov. 18, 1960], No. 39748/60. Class 6(3). Relates to hay-tedders of the type in which a rotating tinecarrying frame 29, 30 is located in a cowling 50 which is open towards the rear and is driven around so as to pick up hay on the tines 31 and first to carry it upwardly and forwardly and then to throw it out behind the cowling. According to the invention stationary guardmembers 74 are disposed within the cowling to extend around the frame 29, 30 close to the end-tines thereon from a position where these tines engage the crop to a position where the crop is thrown off, so as to prevent lateral dispersion of the crop. The invention is shown applied to the tedder described in Specification 937,905 and the guards 74 are shaped so as to present approximately helical edges 82 to the tines so that they approach the latter more closely near the discharge position. The cowling has returned sides 51 to which the guards 74 are secured by brackets 80. Windage of hay around the ends of the tine-carrier is further prevented by flanged end-plates thereon which co-operate with the guards.
