Abstract
937,196. Blow-moulding machines. OWENS-ILLINOIS GLASS CO. Oct. 6, 1959 [Oct. 6, 1958; Oct. 16, 1958; Jan. 8, 1959; Jan. 30, 1959], No. 17919/63. Divided out of 937,195. Class 87(2). A continuously extruded tube is grasped by elements 70, severed by a knife 37 and moved by the elements 70 over a blowing head 73. Either prior to or after the insertion of the head 73, the mould halves 45 are closed. After blowing, the moulds may be moved laterally to sever the bottom 33 of the tube from the blown article. The mould halves may first be partly closed to guide the upper part of the tube. It is stated that the grasping of the tube by the elements 70 prior to closing of the mould relieves stresses in the material as described in Specification 937,195. In a modification, Fig. 7, the extrusion head 40 is provided with a vertically reciprocable blowing head 83. Specification 937,197 also is referred to.
