Abstract

911,787. Discharging static electricity. MEECH ELECTRIC DRIVES (LONDON) Ltd. Jan. 3, 1961 [April 21, 1960], No. 220/61. Class 35. An electrostatic eliminator in the form of a gun comprises a barrel B with a charged, ionising needle C concentrically mounted inside it, a pressurized air supply blowing the ionised air through the nozzle of the gun 26 on to the surface to be neutralized. The nozzle is adapted to be fitted inside a cap D which shields lightsensitive paper from the corona glow at the needle. In a modification, the needle is positioned in the barrel to produce a cone of ionised air particles which is swept through the nozzle by pressurized air, as before (Figs. 4, 5, not shown). The insulated parts of the gun may be made of acrylic resin.
