Abstract

A reaction product of polyethylene imine and an aldehyde is used in solution as an anchoring agent for nitrocellulose lacquers on cellulose sheets (see Group VIII). Specified aldehydes are formaldehyde, paraformaldehyde and acetaldehyde. The reaction products are formed by merely adding the aldehyde to an aqueous solution of the polyethylene imine which may also contain ethylene glycol. A softener such as glycerol may be added. An example of a nitrocellulose lacquer is given which contains conventional plasticizers, blending resin and solvents as well as an organic acid condensation catalyst.
