Abstract

A method of improving and/or stabilizing petroleum oils consists in incorporating with said oils hydrazine, hydrazine hydrate, phenylhydrazine, or hydroxylamine in an amount of one part in 10 to 20,000 parts by weight of the petroleum oil. A petroleum sulphonate such as a calcium petroleum sulphonate may also be included, in an amount of from 0,001% to 1,0% by weight. In examples, light and heavy heating oils, cracked heating oil, and gas oil are compounded with the additives of the invention.
