Abstract

903,041. Snap-action switches. MASON ELECTRIC CORPORATION. Sept. 3, 1959 [March 20, 1958], No. 30077/59. Class 38 (5). In a rotary switch generally similar to that of Specification 871,568, wherein a roller contact 24 bridges adjacent pairs of contacts 22, Fig. 6, the rotary actuator 56, the rotor 40 and the contact carrier 26 are interconnected by the ends of torsion springs 68, 70 mounted on pins 42, 44 carried by the rotor 40, the ends 76, 78 maintaining contact pressure and the ends 82, 84 normally engaging the actuator " kickers " 66, 67 and stop pins 46, 48 also carried by the rotor. Clockwise rotation of the actuator 56 rotates the arm 82 to engage a kicker pin 50 carried by the rotor 40, which then rotates with the actuator until the contact 24 has left the recesses 20 in fixed contacts 22, whereupon the force of the springs 68 acting on the pin 42 snaps the rotor 40 round to the next contact position, Figs. 2, 3, 4 and 5 (not shown). The number of springs 68, 70 may be varied and the actuator 56 is rotatable in either direction. Specifications 837,432, 837,434 and 837,435 also are referred to.
