Abstract

900,833. Packaging. GERRARD INDUSTRIES Ltd. Nov. 18, 1960 [Aug. 20, 1959], No. 28562/59. Class 94(1). A method of tying together groups of bottles comprises securing loops about the group above and below the bottle shoulders. This may be carried out by arranging bottles in a jig, drawing inwards either their bases or necks by passing a binding wire loop round them and then compacting inwards the other ends to tension the loop and applying a further loop round the other ends. Cross ties 4 may be fitted to further tension the loops. The binding may be largely manual or upper and lower pressing members 1, 12 and twisting heads 14, 15 may perform the method automatically.
