Abstract

900,587. Tractors; steering and controlling. VAN DER LELY N.V., C. Sept. 30, 1958 [Oct. 10, 1957], No. 31210/58. Classes 79(1), 79(3) and 79(5). In a tractor in which the seat 18, Figs. 1, 2, swivels to several positions including rearward and forward facing, a steering lever 10 is movable from side-to-side to produce the steering movement to the corresponding side so that the control movements are the same when driving either forwards or backwards. The seat 18 is pivotable by a bracket 19 on the steering column 9 and yieldingly supported by a spring 20. A foot rest 21 hinged at 22 to the seat 18 to permit raising over the frame 1 carries control pedals 24, 25, 26 operating the brakes and clutch through flexible hydraulic lines 33. A throttle control member 23 on the seat arm actuates the throttle through a Bowden cable 29. The control lever 10 is pivoted at. 34, Fig. 5, on the steering column 9 and actuates a control valve 36 through a yoke 37. A. hydraulic cylinder 14, Fig. 6, pivoted at 13 to the vehicle frame and connected through lines 38, 39 with the valve 34 actuates the steering arm 15a, through a connecting rod 15. An additional wheel in line with the front wheel may also be steered through a link 15b and arm 15c. Specification 900,588 is referred to.
