Abstract

900,311. Electroluminescence. SYLVANIA ELECTRIC PRODUCTS Inc. July 16, 1958 [July 16, 1957], No. 39763/60. Divided out of 900,310. Drawings to Specification. Class 39(1). The phosphors particles for use in an electroluminescent device are equalized in size to within Π20%, e.g. by milling and fractionating by settling through various liquids in order to facilitate matching the voltage gradient to the mean particle size as described in Specification 900,310. Mean particle sizes of starting materials of 10 and 15 microns, and mean particle sizes of resulting materials of 2 to 40 microns are referred to. The phosphor can be zinc sulphide activated by copper, chloride and trace amounts of lead. Specifications 717,170 and 746,502 also are referred to.
