899,792. Injecting fertilizers.. FARISH, T. G. Dec. 5, 1960 [Jan. 8, 1960], No. 787/60. Class 6(2). [Also in Group XVII] A horticultura appliance for delivering into the ground charges of fertilizer in powder tablet or pill form; comprises a hollow tube 1 serving as a reservoir for the fertilizer and terminating at its lower end in a casing 3 into which successive charges of fertilizer are discharged by means of a star- or bucket-wheel 9. A spring-leaded.. rod... 5, actuated By a trigger 6, has at its lower end a plunger 7 comprising an upstanding portion 11 which, as the plunger is raised, thrusts against an arm of the star wheel and rotates the latter, the- -star wheel being located in each of its successive positions by a leaf spring 12. At each movement of the wheel 9 a charge 1(0.. of fertilizer falls to the bottom of the casing 3, ready to be ejected into the ground by the plunger 7 when the trigger 6 is released. A tray or hopper 16 for use when recharging the tube 1 with fertilizer, may be located adjacent the filling opening 15 by the upper U-shaped portion of the rod 5.
