Abstract

899,586. Flow boxes of paper-making machines. DORRIES A.G., O. Aug. 16, 1960 [Aug. 22, 1959], No. 28317/60. Class 96. The stock outlet 18 in a Fourdrinier papermaking machine headbox is adjustable to control the flow of stock from the box by rotation of a cylindrical support 3 about its axis 11, the support carrying an outlet lip 5, adjustable by elements 6, 7. The support 3 is mounted between lateral walls (not shown) extending from the end wall 1 of the head-box and engages a bearing 2 located thereon, packing rings 4 preventing leaking of stock. The support 3 is interchangeable with a further support which has an adjustable shutter instead of a lip. The angular position of the support 3 is adjustable by means of a hand wheel/worm-wheel mechanism (not shown) at the journal of one of its ends.
