Abstract
896,658. Electrolytic furnaces for aluminium. ALUMINIUM - INDUSTRIE - A.G. March 9, 1961 [March 29, 1960], No. 8690/61. Class 41. A line of rectangular smelting pots producing aluminium are each provided with an anode supporting structure consisting of two or more vertical pillars 7, Fig. 2, mounted on cantilevers 6 projecting at floor level, and mounted between the pots and also within the vertical planes in which the line of pots lie. By this means the avenues between the lines of pots are free from obstruction to the movement of crustbreaking units. The left-hand part of Fig. 2 shows the supporting members for the conductor 10 suspended by links 15 from a cross-bar 9 resting-beams 8 on the pillars 7, which conductor bridges over the pot to a second pair of pillars on the further side of the pot. The right-hand part of Fig. 2 shows the pot 2 at floor level with the supporting pillars behind. The anode 11 may be adjusted for height by the linkages 15. The pot 2 rests on a removable grate 4, the space below which is free of obstruction, and into which the pots may be lowered for re-lining. The conductor 10 is fed with power through bus-bars 14, and conductors 13 mounted under the supporting pillars 7. Pillars 7, cantilevers 6, and co-operating parts are made of re-inforced concrete.
