Abstract
894,512. Waveguide dissipative terminations. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. June 3, 1960 [June 5, 1959], No. 19336/59. Class 40(8). A waveguide terminal load comprises one or more bodies of a dissipative substance containing a number of embedded metal plates for conducting heat from the bodies to a surrounding casing. The bodies 2, 3 may be wedge-shaped and are composed of a cement or resin loaded with iron dust. The bent-over, outer edges of copper plates 5 are soldered to a casing 4 which forms an extension of the waveguide. The plates lie at right angles to the electric vector of the incident energy. Their inner edges do not extend to the surfaces of the bodies 2, 3. Heat is conducted away from the casing 4 either by external fins (not shown), or by a water jacket 6.
