883,436. Supports for building structures. P.S.C. EQUIPMENT Ltd. April 16, 1958 [July 26, 1957], No. 12150/58. Class 20(2) Parts 8, 9 of a building structure liable to relative movement due for instance to temperature changes or flexing under load are supported on one another by two or more superimposed elements comprising rubber, &c. 1 bonded between metal plates 2, the contacting metal plates being bonded together with adhesive. The rubber may have slits 3 parallel to the steel plates to relieve tension in the rubber during large displacements to prevent bending of the plates. The elements may have transverse holes Fig. 6 (not shown). To allow for initial permanent shrinkage in a building the support elements may be mounted on two lubricated layers of rubber slidable on one another and backed by steel plates.
