Abstract

888,299. Bolted joints. LANG, G. April 8, 1958 [April 6, 1957], No. 11064/58. Class 83 (4). [Also in Group XXV] Thin-walled structural parts 4, Fig. 1, are connected together by bolts 2, each of which is provided on each side of the parts with a washer 1 having a peripheral bearing surface 6 and defining with the adjacent part a cavity 5. Surface 6 may be roughened. The washers may have opposed extensions 10, Fig. 3, and these may be connected together, e.g. by a sleeve. In a modification, the washers are each bowed and formed with a bevelled edge 20, Fig. 8, engaging a corresponding edge around the aperture in the structural part. In another arrangement, each washer has several apertures for bolts, each formed with a peripheral bearing surface and a recess.
