Abstract
A coating composition comprises a silicone resin consisting of an organopolysiloxane and/or an organopolysilane, and from 0,5 to 5% by volume of finely divided carbon having a particle size from about one millimicron to about 1 micron. The carbon is preferably dispersed in a solution of the silicone resin in a volatile aromatic solvent, e.g. xylene or toluene, and the resulting dispersions are then used for coating metal baking pans, with subsequent heat-curing of the silicone coating. Examples are given. U.S.A. Specifications 2,258,218 and 2,606,837 are referred to.ALSO:A form used in baking-food products, characterized by the ability to absorb radiant heat, comprises sheet material coated with a film of hard glassy silicone resin containing from 0.05 to 5% by volume of finely divided carbon having a particle size from about 1 millimicron to about 1 micron. The silicone resins include organopolysiloxanes and/or organopolysilanes. The carbon pigment is preferably dispersed in a solution of the silicone resin in a volatile aromatic solvent, e.g. xylene or toluene, and the resulting dispersion is applied, as by spraying, brushing, dipping or rolling, to a baking pan, with subsequent drying of the coated pan and heat-curing of the silicone resin. The pan, which may be of tin plate, aluminium, carbon steel or aluminium-coated carbon steel, may be coated on both its interior and exterior surfaces. The silicone coating also acts as a mould-release agent. Examples are given. U.S.A. Specifications 2,258,218 and 2,606,837 are referred to.
