Abstract

A paint spraying booth has a paint spraying portion with a mesh or other apertured floor, means for drawing air downwardly through the floor and thence upwardly through a scrubber having a water spray system for washing paint particles from the air, and a filter unit for filtering the total water flowing out of the scrubber. As shown, air enters the booth through a filter 32 and is drawn out through the perforated floor 10 and a scrubber 21 formed between the rear wall 13 of the booth and a wall 24, by an air pump 23. The scrubber 21 has baffle plates 25 and a water pipe 26 having apertures 27 providing fine spray jets, the water from <PICT:0871355/III/1> which falls on to a plate 15 and thence into a filter comprising a length of filtering medium which is supplied from a roll, not shown, traversed beneath the booth on a trough-shaped conveyer 16 driven by a motor 20, and collected in a disposal container 19. The water passing through the filter collects in a tank, not shown, and is re-circulated to the jets 27 by a pump 29, some also being passed through pipes 31 and flowing across the sloping floor 14. The movement of the filtering medium may take place at predetermined time intervals, or may be controlled by a float in the trough of the conveyer 16.
