Abstract

878,037. Separating dust from gases. NORTHERN GAS BOARD, and WHITE, J. E. April 23, 1958 [April 24, 1957], No. 13065/57. Class 8(2). Apparatus for separating dust from an air stream comprises an open-bottomed openended tunnel-like structure divided by vertical longitudinally extending partitions 11 which together with the sides 13 of the structure serve to deflect particles impinging thereagainst and reduce their velocity and allow them to settle under gravity through the open bottom where they are collected and conveyed away by a travelling belt (not shown). The apparatus is portable and is formed of fireproofed canvas duck supported on a tubular frame comprising arched transverse end members 1, 2 connected together by longitudinal tubes 3, 4 and two U-shaped members 5 having lower portions 6 bent inwardly and connected to corresponding end members by tubes 8 and to each other by tubes 7 and serving to support skirt portions 14 of the canvas duck material.
