Abstract
876,057. Two-part couplings. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Jan. 20, 1959 [Jan. 20, 1958], No. 1890/58. Class 38 (1). Plug pins 1 for use with printed circuit panels, each comprise a strip of metal bent about a lateral axis into V-shape, the arms 3, 4 thereof being outwardly bowed and formed with recesses 5 terminating in apertures 6. A printed circuit panel 10, Fig. 3, has one edge slotted at 9 to receive the pins which are pushed into the slots so that shoulders 12 formed at the ends of the side recesses 11 in the slots ride along the recesses 5 and finally snap into the apertures 6 to retain the pins in position. Tongues 7 on the ends of arms 3, 4 lie in extensions 13 of the slots 9 adjacent the printed circuit 28 to which a connection is made by soldering. The pins may mate with U-shaped sockets (Fig. 4, not shown), carried by an insulating strip with U-shaped guides for the panel mounted at the ends thereof. The sockets may be of the type described in Specification 876,056. Fig. 7 shows a modified pin wherein the arms 3<1>, 4<1> are formed with ribs 30 on either side of apertures 6<1>. A second aperture 32 is also formed in each arm. Such pins are mounted in cruciform slots 9<1> as shown in Fig. 11, the shoulders 36, 37 provided by the slots entering the apertures 6<1>, 32 respectively. A resist may be applied to parts of the pins which are not to be wetted by solder as in Specification 832,402.
