Abstract
866,088. Wrapping- machines. DOUGLAS & CO. Ltd., CHARLES E., and MARDEN, B. E. March 5, 1959 [March 6, 1958], No. 7275/58. Class 94(1). In a wrapping machine of the kind described in Specification 692,858, the article support 4 beneath the die aperture 3 is moveable to one side so that the article is swept off the support on to a discharge shoot 25. The support 4 is allowed only limited downward movement against springs 9 when an article to be wrapped is pressed through the die, and is held depressed by a latch 38 engaging a collar 7 on its shaft 5. After wrapping is complete, a pedal 36 is pressed which, through linkage 31-35, causes pivoting of an arm 26 on a shaft 27, the arm 26 carrying the tube 6 in which the support shaft 5 is held. The support 4 is thus swung to one side and a projection (not shown) pushes the wrapped article onto the shoot 25. Linkage 28-30 connecting the shaft 27 to the pivot bearing of the annular carrier 14, raises the latter at the same time as the support is moved, to enable a new wrapper to be laid over the aperture. The shoot 25 is arranged to tilt under the weight of the article to cause it to slide clear of the machine. Return movement of the support 4 results in withdrawal of the latch 38 through means 39-41.
