Abstract
857,611. Non-metallic springs. REGIE NATIONALE DES USINES RENAULT. Dec. 4, 1957 [Dec. 11, 1956], No. 37794/57. Class 108(3). Resilient plastic washers 10, Fig. 1, are mounted on a spindle 11 between a fixed member 12 and a movable member 13. As the member 13 moves to the right the washers are compressed until adjacent stiffened portions 15 abut each other. Webs 14, Fig. 5, of the washers may have stiffening ribs 18 on either or both sides, or may be reduced to radial spokes with spaces between. The washer may be modified by having holes 20, 21, Fig. 9 and curved spokes 22. Under compression the spokes adopt the shape shown in dotted lines. Fig. 10 shows an arrangement in which resilient shock absorbers are fitted between the stiffened parts, rings 27 in the centre and members 28 at the outer rim.
