Class 43 [Also in Group XXV] A bead 10 of rigid material has an insert of resilient material forming either a protruding head 22 and neck 23 or at least the mouth 17 of a lipped socket 16 which engages either a socket or head of another bead. A bead may have two opposed heads either integral with the bead or forming a resilient insert and be combined with a bead having one insert comprising two resilient sockets or two inserts each insert comprising a resilient socket. The insert comprises a split socket alone or combined with a head 52 and be made of rigid material such as metal, or hard plastic, the bead being slidable over the insert to allow the socket to open slightly and engage a head of a bead and then returnable to engage a shoulder 55 with the insert. Instead of a split socket a resilient washer may be inserted between the end of the socket and a step at the end of the box in the bead. A bead, Fig. 11, has a cylindrical cavity with lips 82 at one end retaining a head 86 with a neck 85 which engages in a resilient socket 83 with a tapered bore of another bead.
