Abstract

854,568. Spray carburetters. DOLZA, J. Feb. 3, 1959 [Feb. 6, 1958], No. 3855/59. Class 7(3). A fuel nozzle 27 discharges into the open inlet 22 of a pump 21 situated in a suction chamber 20 connected to the throat of a Venturi 170 in the intake pipe, the pump 20 feeding a mixture of fuel and air to nozzles 31 adjacent the intake ports. The flow from the float chamber 23 to the nozzle 27 is controlled by a metering valve 50 actuated by a bimetallic temperature responsive element 56, an atmospheric pressure responsive capsule 51, and a device 66 responsive to intake manifold pressure. The flow from the nozzle 27 varies with the suction in chamber 20 and the supply is increased at cold starting by a temperature responsive coil 48 which actuates a valve 44 to throttle the opening 45 connecting chamber 20 to the Venturi throat. Orifices 40 beneath the throttle valve also increase the suction in chamber 20 at idling and an accelerating pump 36 in the float chamber 23 discharges either into the outlet of pump 21 as shown or into the inlet of pump 21.
