An egg is pressed into contact with a cleaning abrasive endless belt A which is thereby curved transversely by bearing against a trough D curved to the shape of the large end of an egg. A cross bar d steadies the egg. The belt is stretched between pulleys B, B<1>, the shaft of the pulley B being rotated by a belt b <1> from the pulley c <1> of a motor or a handle. The shaft b<2> of the pulley B <1> is mounted in a slot c<2> so that it can be pressed against spring pressure towards the pulley B to facilitate placing the belt on the pulleys.
