The single slot shown in Fig. 1 has the shape of an arc of a circle subtending an angle which is less than 360 degrees, e.g. 320 to 340 degrees. Fig. 18 shows the same extrusion orifice in plan view and Fig. 19 a vertical section of the orifice taken on the line AB of Fig. 18. Figs. 20 and 21 show a modification in which the arc of the circle of the slot is somewhat smaller at the discharge end of the orifice than at its inlet end. Fig. 2 shows an elliptical slot interrupted at one point over a short distance, and Figs. 3-6 show groups of generally slot-shaped orifices surrounding but not entirely enclosing circular or elliptical imperforate areas of the spinneret face. Figs. 7-10 show groups of slot shaped orifices surrounding areas having generally angular shapes, by means of which hollow filaments of a profiled crosssection can be spun. Fig.s 11-17 and particularly 14-17 show an assemblage of slots for each filament consisting of two or more groups each conforming to the proportions specified for a single group per filament, at least two of the imperforate areas being separated from one another by one or more slots connected to one or more of the perimetrical slots. Filaments produced with such assemblages of slots have a plurality of air inclusions.
