[Also in Group XVI] The surfaces of rods, wires, filaments, or tubes of thermoplastic materials are rendered more resistant to slipping by forming on the surface of such materials by cold reshaping without cutting single or multiple spirals running in the same or opposite directions, by passing said materials between appropriately adjusted and profiled rollers or rolls. A rod 1 of thermoplastic material is fed between three parallel threaded rollers 2 of either hand and spaced apart according to the diameter of the wire. The inner surface of a tube may be roughened by pulling the tube over a suitably threaded core.
