Abstract
849,739. Photographic diazotype materials. OZALID CO. Ltd., and FRANKE, R.'H. Sept. 15, 1958 [June 13, 1957], No. 18637/57. Class 98(2) The materials are prepared by coating a support with a composition containing a lightsensitive diazonium compound, thiourea, if desired a coupling component, and an anti-yellowing agent for the resulting prints comprising a saccharide compound in conjunction with a heavy metal salt. The compositions are fully defined in eight specific examples and all of these include coupler for ammonia development, the saccharide compounds being lactose and glucose, and the heavy metal salts the sulphates of nickel and manganese or chrome alum. Additionally the compositions of Examples I-IV contain finely divided silica and those of Examples V-VIII contain urea and aluminium sulphate. Fructose, saccharose, galactose, maltose, mannose, cellobiose and rhamnose are listed as further saccharide compounds which may be used. The prior use of sulphites or aldehydes, and of sugars and metal salts not in conjunction with each other, as anti-yellowing agents is referred to.
