Abstract

846,122. Moving signs. REEVES ENGINEERING PRODUCTS Ltd. Nov. 14, 1957 [Nov. 14, 1956], No. 34884/56. Class 3(1) A roller blind driving device in which the drive is automatically connected to the roller on to which the blind is to be wound, the other roller rotating freely. Fig. 1 shows a train of gear wheels 1 to 5 each free to rotate on a stub spindle fixed in the plate 9. The spindles of gears 1 and 5 also carry therein co-axial spindles 11 and 12 which support one end of the rollers. The automatic clutch mechanism associated with gear wheel 1 comprises a pin 13 eccentrically mounted on the gear, with a plate 15 pivoted on its free end, in which is mounted a second pin 17 diametrally opposite the first and with its free end bearing on the face of the gear wheel. A spring clip 19 grips the pin 17 and the fixed stub spindle 21. The plate 15 has an internal cam and the spindle 11 has an external cam 22 which lock together when the gear wheel 1 is turned in the direction of the arrow. When turned in the opposite direction the plate 15 assumes the position shown in gear wheel 5 where the cams of the spindle 12 and the plate 16 are sliding over one another.
