Abstract

837,645. Window grilles. GRIST, G. E., WELTON, D. E., and CROXSON, W. J. Oct. 21, 1958 [Oct. 21, 1957], No.32764/57. Class 45. A collapsible grille for a shop window or the like comprises guide channels 1, 2 having slots 3 which receive the ends of alternate rods 4, the ends of the other rods bearing on the outside faces of the channels away from the glass pane so that when the is grille collapsed by pulling on the cords 12, the pivots all break to one side of the plane of the grille. The grille is preferably arranged to guard only the lower part of the window, sufficient space being left above to allow the grille, when collapsed, to be accommodated at the upper part. The rods 4 are hinged together by links 5 which are welded to rods 6, and side movement of the rods 4 in the channel is prevented by members 7, The two top rods 4 and the two bottom rods 4 are preferably guided in the slot 3. When the grille is lowered, projections 11 on a top member guided in the slots 3, rest on stops 10 whereby the grille extends into its open position to be locked at the bottom.
