Class 97(1) [Also in Group XXV] To provide a sensitive adjustment of the cut of an ultra microtome the length of the arm 10 is varied by means of the thermal expansion of a section 37 thereof having an electrical heating element 38 enshrouding it. The arm 10 is connected to a fixed arm 9 by a universal pivot (see Group XXV) having freedom from backlash and lost motion.
