836,316. Car wheel balance weight fixing. HOFMANN, D., [trading as MASCHINENFABRIK D. HOFMANN]. May 12, 1958 [June 1, 1957], No. 15095/58. Class 144 (1). A means for attaching a balance weight to a car wheel rim consists of a spring 2 having a keyhole slot 3 adapted for interlocking engagement with the neck of a mushroom stud 1 secured in the wheel rim, the spring extending outwardly from the slot and radially inwardly to embrace and interlock with the weight 5 which has a recess to receive the spring and a depression in the shape of the mushroom head to secure it to the rim. The weight is attached by first securing the spring to the stud and then inserting the weight between the two portions of the spring. The spring is provided with a hole 4 and the weight with a cavity 9 to allow insertion of an auxiliary tool.
