Abstract

835,902. Wells. BUTLER, G. A. Nov. 6, 1956 [July 12, 1956], No. 33883/56. Class 85 A plug 10 having a bore 35 spans a joint between upper and lower well-head fittings 11, 12, and supports a well pipe 55 to form a continuous flow passage from the pipe to the upper fitting. During completion of the well the pipe is run through the tubing head 12, a spring 50 and a ring 49 are set in a bore 38 in the head, the plug housing a check valve 72 is screwed to the pipe and lowered on to a seat 40 in the head, and set screws 44 are engaged with the plug, a packing 43 and the check valve making it safe to remove the blow out preventers before the tubing head adapter 11 is fitted. The adapter is then bolted to the head, a spring 46 and a ring 47 being set in the bore 37 of the adapter. Finally a plastic sealant is supplied to the space below the ring 47 and to the space above the ring 49 to seal the plug to the fittings.
