835,356. Making roller bearings. SCHAEFFLER, W., and SCHAEFFLER, G., [trading as INDUSTRIEWERK SCHAEFFLER O.H.G.]. Jan. 30, 1958 [Jan. 30, 1957], No. 3211/58. Class 83 (2). A needle roller bearing is made by inserting the cage 4 into a casing 1, forming one flange 3 after the cage 4 is in position and the other flange 2 before or after the cage 4 is in position and jointly heating the cage 4 and casing 1 to hardening temperature before quenching. The surfaces of the cage and casing may be separately carburized prior to assembly. The casing 3 with one flange 2 may be formed by deep drawing.
