Abstract

A thermoplastic composition consists of a mixture of isotactic polypropylene and isotactic polybutene. The composition, which is conveniently prepared by mixing on a roll mill at 160-180 DEG C., has improved physical properties as compared to either component alone. Specified applications of the composition are in the manufacture of film (such as tubular film made by blow moulding), insulated copper wire and coatings on metals, and in the moulding or extruding of articles such as sheets, plates, tubes, pipe fittings, gaskets and decorative articles. In Example 4 the composition comprises dialkyl phenol sulphide as antioxidant.
