Abstract

834,598. Brushes. GEM POWER BRUSHES Ltd. Dec. 9, 1957 [Feb. 20, 1957], No. 5791/57. Class 19. In a rotary wire brush the annular bristle carrier is secured co-axially on a driven shaft by an axially compressible resilient sleeve positioned between the carrier and the shaft. The sleeve 16 is compressed between two discs 18, 19. One of the discs is axially fixed by a nut 12 on a threaded portion of the shaft, whilst the other disc 18, which is of smaller diameter than the internal diameter of the carrier is urged against the sleeve by a nut 11. The nut 12 and disc 19 can be replaced by a shoulder on the shaft, which need not be threaded as the sleeve can be compressed by threaded bolts passing through it and the discs, or disc and shoulder.
