Abstract

A coating of natural or synthetic rubber, polyvinyl chloride &c. containing globules of lanolin or other unguent material is applied in liquid form to the inner surface of a glove made of rubber, rubber-coated fabric, &c. The coating may be applied by dipping in an aqueous dispersion in which the lanolin has been added as an emulsion with water, a protective colloid, e.g. casein, glue, or albumen, and a polyethylene oxide condensation product as a dispersing agent for the lanolin. The aqueous dispersion may include also resorcinol, caustic soda, formaldehyde, and potassium hydroxide. Alternatively the coating may comprise a liquid dispersion in a plasticizer for the polyvinyl chloride &c., the lanolin being incorporated as a dispersion in castor oil; in this case the liquid may consist of polyvinyl chloride, dibutyl phthalate, dibutyl adipate, and lanolin in castor oil. Heat is applied to the coated surface to complete the gelling of the polyvinyl chloride. As a further alternative, the coating is made from rubber &c. let down in a solvent to which lanolin is added.ALSO:A coating of natural or synthetic rubber or polyvinyl chloride containing globules of lanoline or other unguent material is applied in liquid form to the inner surface of a glove made of rubber, rubber-coated fabric, &c. As an alternative, the coating is made from rubber let down in a solvent to which lanoline is added.ALSO:A glove &c. comprises an outer layer of vulcanized or unvulcanized rubber, synthetic rubber, polyvinyl chloride, &c., or fabric coated or impregnated with these materials, and an inner surface layer of similar material containing globules of lanolin or other unguent material. A layer of flock consisting of fibres of cotton, artificial silk, &c. may be adhered to the lanolin-containing layer.
