[Also in Group II] In a method of feeding metal to a coldchamber die-casting machine, metal ingots a, each of sufficient size to form a single casting, are first passed through a preliminary heater c, and subsequently fed singly to a ladle e in which the ingot is melted by a high-frequency electric current, the molten metal being then transferred from the ladle to the feed cylinder f of the machine.
