[Also in Group XL (c)] A high Q magnetostrictive resonator comprises a nickel rod 10 of length and diameter making it resonant, say, at 20,000 c/s., centrally supported at a node by a disc 11 in a cylindrical enclosure 14 also housing driving and output coils 12, 13 for the rod.
