Abstract

Aqueous herbicidal compositions comprise at least one compound of the formula <FORM:0813531/VI/1> wherein R and R1, which may be the same or different, are alkyl radicals of not more than 4 carbon atoms or carboxymethyl radicals and X is an anionic radical, in the presence of a wetting agent and/or a humectant. Specified as active ingredients are 4 : 41 dipyridyldimethiodide, dimethobromide, dimethochloride, dimethosulphate, diethiodide and dicarboxy methochloride. Suitable wetting agents are the condensation product of ethylene oxide with alkylphenols, e.g. that which contains one molecular proportion of octyl cresol condensed with 8-10 molecular proportions of ethylene oxide. Suitable humectants are calcium chloride, glycerol ethylene glycol and water-soluble polyethylene glycols. Other ingredients of the compositions may include known herbicidal agents, e.g. the chloro and methyl substituted phenoxyacetic and phenoxybutyric acids, or salts thereof. The compositions may also contain adhesive agents such as sodium carboxymethyl cellulose or ammonium polymethacrylate. Specification 813,532 is referred to.
