812,732. Weed-breakers. HOLT BRACKEN BREAKER CO. Ltd. Sept. 19, 1957 [Oct. 19, 1956], No. 31903/56. Class 6(3). [Also in Group XXIX] A tractor drawn weed breaker apparatus comprising a tool bar and breaker bars flexibly hitched. to the tool bar for independent rotary and up-and-down movement, each bar consisting of a flat faced core with plates having cutting edges projecting therefrom, includes means arranged to spread chemical over the surface of each plate during the rotation of the breaker bars. The rear of a tractor has a three point linkage 2, 3, 4 to which a tool bar comprising cross-members 5 and 6 is connected. The cross-members are interconnected by struts 7 and 8 and drag behind them breaker bars each comprising a core 10, with plates 11, rotatably mounted by journals 10a in straps 12 linked to the cross-members. A chemical supply tank a with a valved outlet f is mounted behind the driver's seat, and a pump e driven from the tractor power take-off, feeds chemical through a hose d to a spray tube b having angularly adjustable nozzles b1. Uprights c from the members 6 support the spray tube. Alternatively the entire spraying means may be mounted on the tool bar, and the pump may be driven by a flexible drive from the tractor power take-off.
