Classes 52(3) and 52(5) In an article of furniture such as a kitchen cabinet having a recess 5 from which can be swung out a table 6 mounted on a vertical pivot 17, means are provided for locking the table in the extended position. Fig. 2 is a plan view of the lower part of recess 5 and Fig. 3 is a plan view from below of the table 6. A spring 14 attached to a hook 16 on a fixed frame member 13 and to a hook 20 on the inner edge of the table urges the latter to extended position. A lock 22 on the inner edge of the table co-operates with strike plate 24 on the cabinet side frame to lock the table in recessed position. A lock 23 on the inner edge of the table co-operates with a strike plate 27 on the cabinet front to lock the table in the extended position. Locks 22, 23 are interconnected by a strip 35 terminating in a push button 30 on the outer edge of the table. To extend the table, button 30 is pressed to release lock 22 and spring 14 rotates the table, this being limited by the engagement of hook 29 on the inner edge with plate 28 on the cabinet frame, and then lock 23 engages in plate 27. To retract the table, button 30 is pressed to free lock 23 and the table is pushed in until lock 22 engages plate 24. In modifications, the spring may act to retract the table or may be omitted altogether. The free end of the table is pivoted to a leg 7 which can be folded into the plane of the table into a recess 15 in which it is held by a spring clip 37, 38 releasable by actuation of a push button 40. A pivoted fairing 50 closes such part of recess 5 as is not occluded by the table edge.
